Don't Fence Me In
There is an old, old, country song that my mother used to sing to me when I was a baby. That has been awhile ago and that is why I say old, old. It has one line that says "Give me room, lots of room, don't fence me in". It is telling the story of a cowboy riding on the open range. He's actually trying to tell his sweetheart he's not ready to be tied down. He can't make a commitment to her because he has to be free to do what he wants to do. Sound familiar? That is the popular way of thinking these days. Marriage is something that fewer people are entering into. It is easier to serve self instead of serving someone else.
Even we as Christians have become self-serving. We hear God's voice telling us to make a commitment to Him to do things He wants us to do. We say, "Who me?', "I could never do that.", “Are you kidding?'. He isn't kidding. God's word, His voice is very clear what he wants us to do.
Mark 5:19 Go home to thy friends and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee.
Mark 16:12 Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
He wants us to reach out to others outside of "our fence", outside the walls of our church building. Talk to that person fenced into that office or cubicle next to you at work. Talk to that classmate fenced into a lifestyle of drugs and alcohol. Talk to your neighbor who gets on your nerves putting his trash receptacle on your side of the fence. Tell him what Jesus Christ did with all the trash that was in your life. Tell him what Jesus can do with the trash that is in his life. Be bold, be courageous. Don't fence in your Lord, your creator, your savior. Share Him with someone today. Set Jesus Christ free in your world.
Satan has had free reign everywhere in this world for too long. Satan is free to kill unborn babies. Satan is free to steal our children's innocence with pornographic filth everywhere. They are told the lie by Satan that people are born "unchangeable" homosexuals. Satan destroys lives everywhere with drug and alcohol addictions. Some of the drug addictions are drugs actually prescribed by doctor's for "incurable" diseases of the mind such as depression and social anxiety disorders. Satan is doing just what we were told he would do.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
Revelation 12:9 that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world.
We need to stop the free reign of Satan. Fence Satan in. Set Jesus Christ free in this world. Start spreading His good news to people all around us. Jesus is telling Christians everywhere "Don't fence Me in".
